American firm BattleBots sponsors robot competitions. The TV show based on the tournament is also called BattleBots. BattleBots Inc. is based in Vallejo, California, and most competitions are in San Francisco. In BattleBots, remote-controlled armed and armored machines fight in an arena elimination tournament. if both combat robots are still operational at the end of the engagement, the winner is determined by damage, aggression, and strategy. BattleBots aired on Comedy Central for five seasons and five tournaments. The first season began in August 2000 and the fifth in August 2002. Former Baywatch actresses Donna D'Errico, Carmen Electra, and Traci Bingham, former Playboy Playmate Heidi Mark, and Randy and Jason Sklar were correspondents on BattleBots. Bill Nye was the show's "techie" In2002, Comedy Central ended their deal with BattleBots Inc. after five seasons.
