Arena was a show on G4/G4techTV that aired from 2002 to 2004 and was about competitive video games. The program was set up like a LAN party, with teams playing multiplayer video games against each other. A continuing tournament was the focus of many episodes of the show. Some video game episodes, like those in Unreal Tournament 2004 and Call of Duty, go over into the next one. Teams also get a chance to talk about themselves and say where their team name comes from. The Ultimate Arena Champions were Team ZoMBiE, who won the Tournament of Champions in 2004. The Ultimate Arena Champions were Team Kaizen, who won the Tournament of Champions in 2005. Wil Wheaton and Travis Oates used to host the show, but they quit because of problems with the show's producer, Jim Downs. Wheaton revealed many of these problems in a Slashdot post. Lee Reherman and Michael Louden were brought in to take their place. Reherman and Kevin Pereira were the last people to host. Studio 2 was where the first two seasons were shot. In 2004, the last season of the show was filmed in studio 3, which was the biggest studio at G4's old headquarters. When the TechTV buyout was made public and it was clear that the show was going to be canceled, a few episodes were saved and then the set was torn down in July 2004 to make room for X-Play, The Screen Savers, and Unscrewed with Martin Sargent, three shows that used to be on TechTV.
