Dramatic episodes of American Dreams are shown on the NBC television network in the United States. The show is produced by Once Upon a Frog and Dick Clark Productions in conjunction with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios. Jonathan Prince is credited with conceiving of the show, while Josh Goldstein and Prince were the ones responsible for its development. Jonathan Prince served as an executive producer on the show alongside Dick Clark. The 29th of September, 2002 was the day it first appeared. The majority of the action takes place in Philadelphia. Initially, it broadcast on Sundays at 8:00 pm Eastern time; however, beginning on March9,2005, it relocated to the same hour on Wednesdays until the conclusion of the third season. In the middle of the 1960s, Philadelphia is the setting for the program, which follows the narrative of the Pryor family. The first season takes place in the years1963–1964, the second in the years1964–1965, and the third in the years 1965–1966. When it first aired in Australia, the show was given the title Our Generation; however, when it returned to the air for its second season, the title was changed back to American Dreams. Emerson Hart, main singer of the band Tonic, is responsible for the composition and performance of the theme song "Generation." In2003, the ASCAP organization honored Hart with their award for "Best Theme Tune of Television" for the song. The program took home the "Future Classic" trophy at the 2003 TV Land Awards.
