Frank Johnson, the sole witness to a gangland murder, goes into hiding and is pursued by Police Inspector Ferris, who believes Frank is attempting to avoid retaliation. Eleanor, Frank's wife, suspects he is actually fleeing their failed marriage. Eleanor sets out to find her husband with the help of a newspaperman named Danny Leggett. The killer is also on the lookout for him and is keeping a close eye on Eleanor.
