As part of an attempt to address the question "Who is Harry Nilsson?" this documentary analyzes the enigmatic life and music of the Swedish musician Harry Nilsson. Interviews with Robin Williams, Yoko Ono, Van Dyke Parks (with whom the film is based), Randy Newman (with whom the film is based), Ray Cooper (with whom the film is based), the Smothers Brothers, and Mick Dolenz are included in the film. In "Who is Harry Nilsson?," promotional films, music videos, and home movies are mixed with footage from an unreleased documentary shot during the recording of Sons of Schmilsson (Did Somebody Drop His Mouse?), as well as clips from Nilsson's rare TV appearances on the "Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour," "Playboy After Dark," and "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir."
