Daphne, a young American woman, travels to Europe in quest of her father, whom she has never met. However, instead of discovering a British counterpart to her free-spirited mother, she discovers that the love of her mother's life is an uptight politician. The only problem is that Daphne's long-lost father is now engaged to a social climber who is highly territorial and has a daughter who makes Daphne's life a living nightmare.
