Rose, a rebellious half-vampire, half-human guardian-in-training, and Lissa, a mortal, royal vampire princess who is also Rose's best friend, have been on the run. They are caught and taken back to St. Vladamir's Academy, where they think their lives may be in the most danger. Rose will give up everything to protect Lissa from the people inside the Academy who want to use her and from the Strigoi, who are evil immortal vampires who hunt her kind from outside the Academy.
