Mitchel Thomas III finds himself strangely drawn to represent the firm's newest client in the wake of a heinous tragedy in the "Hostess City of the South". Upon becoming acquainted with the girl, Mitch's past resurfaces, engulfing and consuming him. Meanwhile, Mitch investigates deeper into the Tybee community, which hides the girl's pregnancy secret, in order to spare his mother, Eleanor, and the girl's father from media disgrace. The more he learns about his client's past, the more he drinks to drown out the ghosts of his own past. It dawns on Mitch that in order to save this young woman, he will have to confront the most painful memories of his own life.
