After 13 years in prison for murder, Mikami, a middle-aged ex-yakuza who has spent most of his life behind bars, is released. He registers for a TV show and meets a young TV director named Tsunoda in the hopes of tracking down his long-lost mother, from whom he was separated as a youngster.
