The Wild Child

A feral boy is discovered outside the French town of Aveyron in 1798. He is committed to an asylum after being diagnosed with mental illness. Jean Itard, a young doctor specializing in ear, nose, and throat physiology and deaf-mute education, becomes convinced that the youngster has normal mental potential, but that his development has been hampered by his lack of social interaction. He takes the boy home, names him Victor, and sets out on a long journey to educate him.
