At an ophthalmologist's office, two eccentric New Yorkers run into each other and make for a cute collision. Peter is a grumpy cartoonist/author whose vision is failing, and Theresa is a divorced mother who is equally hesitant to enter into a relationship at this time in her life. It's hardly love at first sight because both of them have their eyes dilated, and Peter frequently lampoons women in his work, which Theresa is well aware of. The animated segments in the film are loosely inspired on James Thurber's drawings "The War Between Men and Women" and Thurber's life.
