A stagecoach carrying Willard and Doretta Mims passes by, and Pat Brennan, who has lost his horse in a bet, boards it to get to his destination. The coach and its passengers are taken into the custody of a group of criminals, led by a guy named Usher, at the next station. When Usher discovers that Doretta is the daughter of a wealthy copper mine owner, he decides to kidnap her and take her hostage as a ransom payment. With each passing hour, tension increases as Usher seeks a response to his demands and as a romantic relationship between Brennan and Doretta develops.
