The Story of Qiu Ju
The Story of Qiu Ju is a comedy-drama movie from China from 1992. Zhang Yimou directed the movie, and like many of his other movies, the lead role is played by Gong Li. The novella The Wan Family's Lawsuit by Chen Yuanbin was turned into a screenplay. The movie is about a Chinese farmer's wife named Qiu Ju who lives in a rural area. When the village head kicks her husband in the groin, Qiu Ju goes to a nearby town and then a big city to deal with its bureaucrats and get justice for her husband.
