When rancher Hatcher offers them a ride on his cattle drive, the two Beaudine brothers decline, only to change their views after he is shot. So they set out with six other riders, a cook, and a healing owner, going for Colorado, 1000 miles away, with 1500 cows in tow. They'll encounter accidents, Indians, squatters demanding money, a stampede, and a scarcity of water along the road.
