Following the reading of an elderly Jewish man's suicide diary, freelance journalist Peter Miller begins to investigate the alleged sighting of a former SS-Captain who commanded a concentration camp during WWII. Miller eventually becomes involved with the powerful former SS organization ODESSA, as well as the Israeli secret service. Miller investigates further and discovers a connection between the SS-Captain, ODESSA, and his own family.
