Despite his current state of destitution and neglect, William Freise-Greene was once a vibrant young man. After marrying his first wife when he was still an attractive young man named William Green, he adopted a new moniker that included both of their names in order to seem more powerful in his photography portrait job. But he was also an inventor, and his quest to find a technique to display moving images became an obsession that ultimately impacted the lives of all those he loved. He died in search of this invention.
