Dennis Barlow, who has just moved to Hollywood from England, learns that he must make arrangements for his uncle's burial at the highly organized and very profitable Whispering Glades funeral parlor. Aimee Thanatogenos, one of their cosmeticians, has managed to capture his attention. But he has three problems: the stringent rules of the owner Blessed Reverand Glenworthy, the competition of the embalmer Mr. Joyboy, and the embarrassment of now working himself at The Happy Hunting Ground dogs' memorial home.
