The attempts of Joe Toy's single father, Frank, to regulate his life, as he approaches adolescence, cause him to become increasingly frustrated. His best buddy, Patrick, and an odd child named Biaggio accompany him to a clearing in the woods where he declares his freedom for the last time. He declares that they are planning to build a house there, away from their responsibilities and parents. Following the completion of their improvised dwelling, the three young men find themselves in complete control of their own destiny, alone in the forest.
