The Joke Thief is a trip through one man's final hurrah. Simon McCabe is a stand-up comedian who has been entertaining audiences for the past 35 years. He has always been the life of the party, but now he is exhausted, miserable, and on the verge of retirement due to his reputation for stealing jokes. On one faithful night, his old friend and fellow comedian persuades the owner of a comedy club to offer Simon a spot on the stage and a final chance at redemption. Simon takes us on a whirlwind tour of his life en route to his concert, recounting important experiences in an emotional series of flashbacks that shaped him into the sad, humorous man he is today.
