Scott Carey is exposed to a radioactive cloud while kayaking. After a few months, Scott notices he's lost several inches in height. He sees a doctor who is perplexed. Scott becomes furious as he shrinks to three feet tall and lashes out at his wife Louise. Because he's still shrinking, he starts to worry that a treatment may never be found.
