With the arrival of summer, three high school friends, Kenny Leeds, Mike Decker, and Tommy Kingsley, look forward to their passage into manhood. Kenny, on the other hand, is separated from his friends and sent to live with his grandparents in Buffalo while his father, a widowed salesman, goes on a business trip with his secretary-fiancée. Kenny, bored and alone in a strange city, writes letters to his two friends about his exploits at "Rosie's," a fictitious brothel across the Canadian border in Niagara Falls. His deception quickly backfires....
