The Admiral: Roaring Currents
After following the famous 1597 Battle of Myeongryang, which took place during the Japanese invasion of Korea (1592-1598), the film focuses primarily on Yi Sun-sin, the legendary Joseon admiral who managed to destroy an astounding total of 133 Japanese warships with only 13 ships remaining in his command. The battle, which took place in the Myeongryang Strait, off the southwest coast of the Korean Peninsula, is regarded as one of Yi's most significant triumphs. It was the first time that Yi had fought in the sea.
