Victor Sandeman is a Brunel Global Securities Senior Partner. A $100 million firm merger would address his main financial issues. But owner Raymond Brunel opposes the deal. Victor murders Raymond (faking a death by natural reasons) to gain control of the company's heir apparent, David Brunel. An unsolved mystery is Christine Sternwald, a potential witness. Christine, a paralegal and aspiring lawyer, is just getting her life back together after a sexual attack three years ago. As Raymond Brunel, Victor is forced to identify himself to Christine shortly after the murder.
