Ship of Theseus
This is the first feature film from Indian playwright Anand Gandhi. It tells three stories about people who have to think about the ethical and moral issues that medical advances raise. One is a visually impaired Egyptian photographer who has trouble adjusting to her new sight after having a cornea transplant; another is a devout Indian monk who has to face his beliefs when he is diagnosed with liver cirrhosis; and a third is an Indian stockbroker who has to think about his beliefs after having surgery. As a result of its success at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, the movie was called "the hidden gem of the year." It was shown there for the first time in 2012. During the Indian National Film Awards in 2014, it was named Best Feature Film of the Year. It was released in July 2013.
