Christopher Cross, a cashier who moonlights as a part-time starving artist, is head over heels in love with the stunning Kitty March. Johnny, a two-bit thief, is the only one who has Kitty's attention. She goes along for the most part. When Kitty and Dan learn that art dealers are interested in Chris' work, they deceive him into allowing Kitty to take credit for the paintings she has created for them. Cross accepts it since he is head over heels in love with Kitty, but his feelings for her will only allow her to get away with a certain amount.
