Late December 2012, Taipei. With temperatures in the 30s, the city is experiencing an unprecedented winter heatwave. Tiger (Antoine) is eight years old and lives with his divorced mother, Cao Yi (Vivian Hsu),36, a magazine editor who is struggling to make ends meet due to decreasing alimony payments from her ex-husband (Tang Kuo-chung). Tiger is not clever at school and scares his art instructor (Mini Yang) with the dark pictures he paints in class since he has a hyperactive imagination and sees his mother as a run-down robot in need of a new model.
