After his son Ned is recruited into the Army by the wicked Sergeant Major Peasy, New York trapper Tom Dobb becomes an unwilling participant in the American Revolution. Tom searches for his son and eventually decides to join the aristocratic rebel Daisy McConnahay in fighting for the Colonies' freedom. The events of the conflict unfold in large-scale grandeur as Tom suffers his change of heart.
