Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made
In 1982, three 11-year-old boys in Mississippi decided to reconstruct Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was one of their favorite movies at the time. It took seven difficult years that put their friendship to the test and came dangerously close to destroying their mother's home. By the time the movie was out, they had finished every scene with the exception of one: the one involving the explosive airplane. After waiting for thirty years, they decide to try to make their boyhood fantasy come true by constructing a copy of the 75-foot "Flying Wing" jet from Raiders of the Lost Ark in a mud hole in the middle of the woods in Mississippi... and then detonating it. The following is the history of the production of "the greatest fan film ever produced," also known as "the biggest fan film ever made."
