Wyatt Earp, along with his brothers Morgan and Virgil, arrive in Tombstone and leave their cattle herd in the care of their brother James. Upon their return, they discover their livestock taken and James dead. Wyatt assumes the position of town marshal, appointing his brothers as deputies, and pledges to remain in Tombstone until James' murderers are apprehended. Soon after, he encounters the moody, coughing, hard-drinking Doc Holliday and the surly and nasty Clanton clan. Wyatt discovers the owner of a relic stolen from James' corpse, setting the stage for the Earps' long-awaited vengeance.
