Machuca
Santiago, Chile's capital city during Salvador Allende's Marxist regime and very controversial presidency. His Marxist views are further supported by Father McEnroe's decision to enable some low-income students to attend the famous "collegio" (Catholic prep school) St. Patrick without paying a tuition. Gonzalo's liberal-bourgeois housekeeper Pedro Machuca's slum-raised kid is one of those individuals. Gonzalo is adopted by Pedro's gang but the new classmates become friends and protest together when Gonzalo is taken in by Pedro's slum family. However, adults ruin even that, not the least of which is the removal of Allende and supporters like McEnroe by general Pinochet's coup.
