Simin is an Iranian woman who has immigrated to the United States in search of freedom. In an effort to keep tabs on the populace, the Census Bureau where she works has started keeping a database of people's nocturnal musings. Simin, unaware of this sly strategy, is divided between her empathy for the dreamers she's been recording and the reality she knows she must uncover for herself.
