In the aftermath of his discharge from an insane asylum, Charlie reunites with Miranda, the young daughter he abandoned years earlier. As a result of his suspicions that there is treasure buried beneath the local Costco, Charlie devises a scheme to discover the loot. He is able to obtain a key by persuading Miranda to leave her job at McDonald's and instead work at a wholesale store where she is employed. While Miranda is suspicious of her father's illogical quest, she is willing to assist him in it.
