Kaufman's Game
Stanley is an unemployed young man who loves boxing and wants to get stronger and more stamina. Kaufman's Game is about Stanley. Strangers come up to Stanley outside the gym and offer him some special steroids. Stanley is drawn into the ever more violent operations of a powerful group, unwittingly taking part in tests meant to show his strength, and is forced to fight for his life in the process. In this movie, there is a lot of talk about power, determination, and being your own worst friend. It honors the film noir archetypes and the dark, conspiratorial storytelling style of Franz Kafka, but with a minimalist look that is modern.
