Ellie Andrews is taken away to her father's yacht and out of King Westley's clutches after just getting married to the affluent social aviator. Ellie abandons ship and soon finds herself on a bus bound for her husband's home. Peter Warne, a reporter who is out of employment, must be recruited to assist her, despite her reservations. Ellie is given no choice by Warne; either she stays with him until he returns her to her husband or he informs Ellie's father of her whereabouts. With or without the help of the others, Peter obtains his goal: a particularly delicious newspaper story.
