Thomas Dunn has lost his religion as a result of the death of his little daughter. His life has come crashing down around him, and his self-assurance has been crushed. However, when he wakes up on this day, he discovers that Mandy, his devoted wife, is pregnant once more. Perhaps this is their chance to move on from their previous tragedy and for him to rediscover his faith. A massive alien mother-ship appears in the heavens on this day as well, and the inhabitants of Earth are immediately tortured with visions of the end of civilisation. As the mother-ship sends a large alien armada on the towns and cities of Earth, Tom and Mandy are separated. Tom must search deep within himself for not only his faith, but also the wisdom and strength necessary to defend humanity from the monsters that threaten them. However, he must first locate Mandy, as he has discovered that their new child holds the key to humanity's future. The battle lines have been formed, and Earth's final stand is about to commence.
