Jesse, a New Yorker, returns to a small town following the death of her father-in-law and a divorce. She lives with her now widowed mother-in-law. Jesse tries to blend in with the townspeople, who are, to put it mildly, unwelcoming. Jesse meets the local pastor, her widower brother-in-law, and falls in love with him, much to the community's dismay. Things become much more confusing when her ex-husband calls, ostensibly in an attempt to win her back. Between her love life and her intertwined in-laws, Jesse is put to the test as she searches for her true identity.
