I Am Slave
The plot unfolds when twelve-year-old Malia, the daughter of champion wrestler Bah, is taken from her Sudanese town in the Nubar Mountains and sold into slavery to a woman in Khartoum who punishes her for touching her daughter. She is moved to London after six years, where her name is changed but her horrible life of servitude continues. Her passport is seized and she is informed that if she contacts the authorities, her father will perish. Fortunately, she encounters a kind individual who appears to offer her the possibility of escape and reunification with Bah in Sudan. Despite the film's positivity, the end title claims that there are around 5,000'slave' employees in the United Kingdom at the moment.
