Ray Livingston is a relationship-blogging hack ("freelance writer, actually") behind Brooklyn's infamous blog, "Occasionally Dating Black Women." Ray is chafing from an overextended stay in New York, romantic ennui, and a stagnant writing career, despite the well-written, if not controversial, blog. After a particularly bad week, he goes on a rant and harasses a beautiful random passerby, only to find out that she's Rochelle Marseille, one of New York's up-and-coming authors. Ray is shocked when Rochelle gives him more than he expected in an effort to make amends and keep his media clout.
