Behrani, an Iranian immigrant, buys a California bungalow with the intention of fixing it up and reselling it to pay for his son's education. Former drug user Kathy, on the other hand, is the legal owner of the house. She's left with nowhere to live after losing her home in an unfair legal battle with the county. She employs a lawyer and befriends a cop in order to reclaim her home. Kathy and Behrani haven't breached the law, so they're caught in the middle of a moral quagmire.
