Jesse, played by Arye Gross, and Kate, played by Lar Park Lincoln, are two young urban professionals who move into an old mansion that has been in Jesse's family for many decades. Soon after, Jesse's funny friend Charlie (played by Jonathan Stark), who brought along his diva girlfriend Lana (played by Amy Yasbeck), in the hopes of being found by Kate, who works for a record label, is introduced to them. Jesse has moved back into the old mansion that formerly belonged to his family despite the fact that his parents were killed when he was a young child. Jesse discovered a picture of his great-great grandpa, who gave him his name, standing in front of a Mayan temple while holding a crystal skull with gems set in the eyes as Jesse was rummaging through some old things in the basement. Jesse recognizes the man in the background as Slim Razor, a former associate of his great-great grandfather who became an avowed foe when they had a fight about who would get to keep the skull.
