Henry and Maggie are invited to a birthday party for a local publisher, where his son and stepson reenact a legendary 18th-century duel in the park. One of the ancient pistol's musket balls has been loaded by mistake, and when the son pulls the trigger, the stepbrother is killed in front of a room full of witnesses.
