Karl, a computer technician, is also known as the "Address Book Killer," as he obtains his victims' names from stolen address books. Terry and her son Josh walk into the store to price software, and a salesperson uses Terry's address book to demonstrate a handheld scanner. Karl obtains the file, and on his way to Terry's house that night in a heavy rainstorm, his car runs off the road and lands upside down in a cemetery. A surge of lightning strikes the hospital while Karl is having a CAT scan, and his soul is transformed into electrical energy. Karl continues his assassination spree by utilizing the electrical grid and computer networks.
