Ray, a widower and ex-con, plans a coin heist with two friends to buy his own bakery. But he didn't anticipate his son Timmy, who was living with Ray's sister, to show up mid-plan. Timmy is ignored, and Ray and his gang rob the bank. Timmy catches his father's eye by stealing and hiding coins. To regain them, his father must take him to various locations and treat him as a guest. Timmy won't stay with his father unless he gives up the coins.
