Young man and his landlord's daughter leave Ireland following a dispute with her father, and they want to buy property at the major giveaway in Oklahoma in 1893. Their first task upon arrival in the new place is to secure employment and begin setting up funds for the future. His employers steal all of their money, and the couple is forced to fend off starvation while trying to keep their goal of owning land alive. The man becomes a local barehanded boxer and rides high on fame until he is defeated. They've arrived in America to find the woman and bring her back to her parents, who have learned where she is.
