A little child lives with Tim and Lee, who are married. After discovering a bone and an old rusted rifle in the yard of a luxury mansion in the Hollywood Hills, Tim's opportunity to stay there is jeopardized. The prospect of a mystery intrigues Tim, but Lee does not want him to delve more into it; instead, Lee would like him to concentrate on the family taxes, which he promised to complete several weeks ago. Tim and his pals are looking for clues to the mystery, while Lee is looking for answers to the greater problems of marriage and parenthood. Over the course of a weekend, their divergent and unexpected adventures set them on separate and unexpected journeys.
