John Brock, an archaeologist who has been searching for a long-lost relic in rural Kentucky caves, has returned home after a failed search for a long-lost treasure. A violent bird-like creature from mythology begins to appear in John's dreams when he returns home. On his last journey, John found into a cave that had the artifact and a doorway to Hell, as well as a site of worship for occultists. In order to put an end to John's disturbing visions, he decides to return to the cave with his family, locate the relic, and destroy it for good.
