In the following, you will meet the Libner brothers: Marvin, played by Daniel Stern, is the eldest of the three brothers and serves as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. Buddy, played by Arye Gross, is the shyest of the three children and a dreamer. Bobby (Patrick Dempsey), the youngest of the three, is a dashing troublemaker at the reform school. They were always at one other's throats as children, but as adults, they hardly ever exchange a word. During the summer of1963, their tough and eccentric father, Fred (Alan Arkin), assigns them a mission: they are to transport a 1954 Cadillac from Detroit to Miami so that it can be delivered to their mother, Betty (Rita Taggart). The three brothers argue with one another and start to get back in touch with one another as the journey progresses, all while attempting to preserve the Caddy in pristine shape.
