One of Geneva's oldest watchmaker firms is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and its founder Charles Dé's 50-year-old grandson has had enough. He speaks eccentrically to a reporter, recognizing both his grandfather and his son as craftsmen while remaining vague about his own background. When he tells his family he's leaving, they are shocked. He then moves in with the young couple he met by chance and spends his time cooking, reading, drinking, and philosophizing with them. After a while, Charles becomes a part of the family. While he is away, his family hires a private investigator to track him down, which sets in motion a company takeover that threatens his hedonistic lifestyle.
