There has been an outbreak of a deadly virus all over the world. Contagion can be found everywhere, and no one can be trusted because no one is protected from infection. After racing through the back roads of the American West, four friends make their way to an idyllic beach in the Gulf of Mexico, where they hope to wait out the pandemic in peace and tranquillity.
