In her quest to become Empress of Rome, Messalina (played by the stunning Betty Roland) will do anything and everything to gain control. The Emperor's youngest sister Agrippina, who dreams that her son Nero will one day rule Rome, is upended by her actions in the gladiator arena, which bring her to Caligula's attention. By embracing Claudius immediately after the death of Caligula's successor, Messalina detracts from Agrippina's triumph. Naughty old Messalina, on the other hand, can't seem to settle down with just one guy, thus she has been known to have affairs with everyone in sight, from a bizarre brothel frequenter to a randy dwarf to her eunuch(!?!) and even an ex-lover.. Since Claudius has been away fighting in faraway nations, Agrippina finally sees her moment to finally get rid of her enemy once and for all when she gets pregnant.
